Welcome!

I’m Robin Bixler D.O.

Professional woman with shoulder-length blonde hair smiling, wearing a black blazer over a floral blouse, against a white background.

I’m an adult psychiatrist dedicated to helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health with warmth and compassion. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Drake University and graduated with my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from Des Moines University in 2004. My training in the family medicine/psychiatry combined program at the Medical College of Wisconsin deepened my understanding of how physical health intersects with mental well-being. I completed my residency in Psychiatry at the same institution in 2008, where I served as chief resident.

My passion for mental health is deeply rooted in my own experiences. Growing up, I always wanted to be a physician, and my introduction to psychiatry came during my third year of medical school. My preceptor’s transformative impact on patients ignited my commitment to this field. Through years of diverse clinical experiences—including outpatient psychiatry and consulting roles—I’ve come to appreciate the importance of a comprehensive approach to treatment that emphasizes prevention and lifestyle factors.

My Personal Jouney

In 2020, my family and I relocated from Minnesota to Florida, drawn by the allure of warmer weather and the opportunity to be closer to my extended family. I cherish spending quality time with my husband, two daughters and stepson. We share our home with our beloved pets, including our Cavapoo, Dixie, Australian Shepherd Charlie, and affectionate cats.

I find joy in being involved with my local community, particularly at our church, where I’m part of a women’s small group and assist at the Connect Center on Sunday mornings. My experience fostering kittens through a local animal shelter has been especially rewarding. Music has always been a significant part of my life; I sang in various choirs throughout my youth, including the Minnesota All-State Choir and the Drake Choir during my college years.  My time singing and touring with choirs allowed me to travel internationally and broaden my cultural perspectives.

I believe in the power of connection, compassion, spirituality, and the resiliency of the human spirit to promote healing.
